Of Google+ and human communication...

In Twitter I only dreamed of having an "international audience."
In Buzz it actually happened.
In G+ we are actually talking with each other....

When I started blogging some 10 years ago I didn't even want to reveal my real name on the blog.
When Facebook really exploded a few years back I was just so happy that my cousins & family would finally be willing to give this newfangled Internet thingy a try... and then they got Blackberries and started groups.
[I haven't managed to activate BBM on my "black market"(?) Bold. And its already dead now.]

In Twitter at the beginning I was a total, total over-sharer. Then I got "schooled".
I don't talk much over there anymore.
(Except at my secret, protected account where I only follow the closest of my closest friends) (and one or two Random Strangers whom I somehow gave my Trust) (foolishly (?))

So what is the True Nature of Human Communication? How do we reallyget through to each other? How do we transfer Signal? Minimize Noise? Get us to really Hear each other?

...I don't know. I don't know.

One thing I do know though: nice to meet you all. Really.

TTYL :)

Prakata:
Mari kita diskusikan bersama!

Music [industry] and the ever-changing world [consciousness]

A comment I made a couple of months ago on the article, "Music and the Ever Changing World," at Listen To The World.net...
---

this..."industry", better kill it soon, no? haha

No need, IMHO; "industry" will either adapt or die. If "industry" is to survive though, it must be beneficial to society.

Though if the current [music] "industry" does die, a new industry will emerge. For when there is value, there is market demand. And the industrious will always somehow make profit from that demand.

Hopefully the new Industry (should there be any) will be more logical, and that all participants will benefit. Whether music producers, music audience, and intermediaries.

How do we actually bring the audience into the "consciousness"?

Well I believe that all humans are instinctively inclined to respond to and create music. Babies rapping their hands on tables to music playing on TV etc. etc. Everyone is conscious to music's role as cultural totems. Its in our blood. That's why popular music become popular among peers. Ignorance stems from under-exposure. If we feel our friends are shallow in their choice of music, we should attempt to expose our friends and peers with music motivated by different values than what they're used to.

And welcome, Urokere, to our LTTW website; and thanks for sparking this discussion! Let's talk; I also still have a lot of catching up to do on music, culture, etc., so please correct me if I'm wrong :)

Find a Way to My Heart

Find a way to my heart, and I will always be with you
From wherever you are, I'll be waiting
I'll keep a place in my heart, you will see it shining through
So find a way to my heart, and I will, I will follow you

This journey's not easy for you, I know
If your footsteps get too faint to hear, I'll go
Cos you know, questions are never that easy
And never the same
Will you have the answer believe me
If you have the faith

So find a way to my heart, and I will always be with you
From wherever you are, well I'll be waiting
I'll keep a place in my heart, you will see it shining through
So find a way to my heart, and I will, I will follow you

Time may come, and time may go, I know
And if you should call out for me, I'll go
But you know, there is a code to be broken
I wrap it around
Without a word being spoken
Without a sound

There's a reason I hide my heart
Out of sight out of mind
And when I find out just who you are
The door will be open for you to..

So find a way to my heart, and I will always be with you
From wherever you are, I'll be waiting
I'll keep a place in my heart, you will see it shining through
So find a way to my heart, and I will, I will follow you

Oh find a way to my heart, and I will always be with you
From wherever you are, well I'll be waiting
I'll keep a place in my heart, you will see it shining through
So find a way to my heart, and I will, I will follow you

Is Hierarchy good for Indonesian society?

Is Hierarchy good for Indonesian society?

I mean I know that many traditional regional cultures born within Indonesia are socially structured with hierarchy as a vital element in decision making and leadership. And that--on the other hand--in many urban Indonesian cities there has been many signs which points towards a flattening of hierarchies as a way to break social barriers to opportunities and understanding.

But which mode will provide the best result for Indonesia as an entity? My work with the SBF depends on showing leadership in this area, and we do not think that the current trend of letting it be "decided" by "the market" is healthy at all.

Need more time to fully flesh this out, of course, but I also need to say that I do not see any leadership in this topic. And that if Indonesia decides that this is bullshit and we don't need any of this kind of thinking, then Indonesia also needs to begin movement towards dissolution, as a way of bringing an end to our Nation's pervasive undecidedness.

Android OS, and revisiting Open Source vs. Free Software

With the popularity of Android OS, and before it iOS and OS-X, it is time we realize (and become more aware of) the differences between Open Source & Free Software..

(small note: iOS and OS-X, both based upon the Apple Inc. initiated Darwin-OS project, is based largely on FreeBSD in its core, and uses a modified Mach kernel. Apple also contributes significantly upstream)

In the ‘perfect world’, all software would be ‘Free Software’ and there would be no need for the ‘Open Source’ pragmatic compromise…

(notice all the ‘scare quotes’ in the previous sentence..)

All the more reason to keep an eye on Nokia’s Maemo project, I say.

10 Session of Listen to the World Offline Series:

"Majority Never Changes the World"

presented by Serrano Sianturi (Chairman of Sacred Bridge Foundation)

Friday, Sept 24 - Start at 8.30pm

ROSSI Musik, Lt.3
Jl. R.S. Fatmawati No.30
Jakarta

Preface:

Change is the only constant they say. Do we really believe that? Has everything changed? Do we really want everything to change. In real life, change is a scarry thing to most people, and yet again change is the only constant they say. The world has a lot of bad habits, but we still keep doing them simply because we are so used to them; we are familiar with the impacts or consequences. Change (good or bad), on the other hand, is scarry because it may bring the consequences that we either don’t like or cannot predict. But hey, changes take place anyway throughout the history of mankind. Who triggers changes in our lives? Hardly the majority for sure, and let’s talk about that!

Message regarding OAuth and t.co URL wrapping from The Twitter Team

Did any of you Tweeple notice this email, from The Twitter Team?

---------- Forwarded message ----------
From: Twitter <--snip--@postmaster.twitter.com>
Date: Thu, Sep 2, 2010 at 2:02 PM
Subject: Update: Twitter Apps and You
To: --snip--@gmail.com

Hi @erdina,

Over the coming weeks, we will be making two important updates that will impact how you interact with Twitter applications. We are sending this notice to all Twitter users to make sure you are aware of these changes.

What are applications?

There are over 250,000 applications built using the Twitter API. To use most applications, you first authorize the application to access your Twitter account, after which you can use it to read and post Tweets, discover new users and more. Applications come in many varieties, including desktop applications like TweetDeck, Seesmic, or EchoFon, websites such as TweetMeme, fflick, or Topsy, or mobile applications such as Twitter for iPhone, Twitter for Blackberry, or Foursquare.

Update 1: New authorization rules for applications

Starting August 31, all applications will be required to use “OAuth” to access your Twitter account.

What's OAuth?

  • OAuth is a technology that enables applications to access Twitter on your behalf with your approval without asking you directly for your password.
  • Desktop and mobile applications may still ask for your password once, but after that request, they are required to use OAuth in order to access your timeline or allow you to tweet.

What does this mean for me?

  • Applications are no longer allowed to store your password.
  • If you change your password, the applications will continue to work.
  • Some applications you have been using may require you to reauthorize them or may stop functioning at the time of this change.
  • All applications you have authorized will be listed at http://twitter.com/settings/connections.
  • You can revoke access to any application at any time from the list.

Update 2: t.co URL wrapping

In the coming weeks, we will be expanding the roll-out of our link wrapping service t.co, which wraps links in Tweets with a new, simplified link. Wrapped links are displayed in a way that is easier to read, with the actual domain and part of the URL showing, so that you know what you are clicking on. When you click on a wrapped link, your request will pass through the Twitter service to check if the destination site is known to contain malware, and we then will forward you on to the destination URL. All of that should happen in an instant.

You will start seeing these links on certain accounts that have opted-in to the service; we expect to roll this out to all users by the end of the year. When this happens, all links shared on Twitter.com or third-party apps will be wrapped with a t.co URL.

What does this mean for me?

  • A really long link such as http://www.amazon.com/Delivering-Happiness-Profits-Passion-Purpose/dp/0446563048 might be wrapped as http://t.co/DRo0trj for display on SMS, but it could be displayed to web or application users as amazon.com/Delivering- or as the whole URL or page title.
  • You will start seeing links in a way that removes the obscurity of shortened links and lets you know where each link will take you.
  • When you click on these links from Twitter.com or a Twitter application, Twitter will log that click. We hope to use this data to provide better and more relevant content to you over time.

Thanks for reading this important update. Come and check what's new at http://twitter.com.

Thanks,
The Twitter Team

my deviantArt; or why I don't post there anymore

Metro Renov Powder, Redux by ~Lemi4 on deviantART

Here's one sample from my gallery. I think the last time I posted anything in my deviantArt was around 2007. I don't post there anymore because I feel myself waaaay too out of my league. There are still many other artworks there, but its just that I don't think I'll ever really feel good about posting there myself.

I need a space where I can post whatever artwork I want. Without worrying about any repercussion or anything.

...Or maybe not.

I just need to be able to feel good about drawing again. Or playing music.

Something.

[Gotta go drive Mum to the market to buy groceries] [/whoosh!]

mind-Dumpster's Space

the mind-Dumpster is where I dump miscellaneous writings and media that's been somewhat polluting my brain, in an attempt to clear my head.

I use it as reference to get my thinking straight. Maybe you'll also find it useful. But maybe you'll find it's all B.S.

Doesn't matter. One man's trash is another's treasure.

:)
